Meet Your Guide

Julie Armstrong

I’ve been a teacher for over 30 years - indoors and out in nature, striving to deepen our connection with the natural world. For the past 8 years ACT for Bees and Other Pollinators has been my focus, raising awareness about the importance of pollinators for food security, biodiversity and healthy ecosystems.

I’ve just been awarded the Australian Association Environmental Educators national award for Environmental educator of the year 2023/24, the peak professional body for education for Sustainability and our Environment. If you are an educator, I urge you to join us.

My work with students in the classroom as a craft and class teacher, at Birrigai Outdoor School, and my involvement with the Australian Association for Environmental Education ACT, inspired me to train as a Forest Therapy guide with the International Nature and Forest Therapy Alliance (INFTA). I love sharing Canberra Forest Therapy walks that are crafted to deepen our connection with nature and awaken our senses to the healing power of the forest. When we feel a sense of belonging to Nature, we want to nurture and protect it.

"I will be your guide today and nature will be your therapist".

Join us for a relaxing walk in the rich greenness beside the clear and sparkling, tumbling river.  Feel the silken water caressing your feet, rejuvenating and enriching the pores of your skin. Enjoy the texture of stones worn smooth by aeons of rippling water. Look upwards and drink in the majesty of the tree canopy, arching above cool and green against the warming suns rays. Relax and linger to breathe in deeply the clean air rich with healing aerosols.

Slow down and allow your whole being to enjoy this time, just for you, to connect and return to yourself.
