Reconnection: Hands on wool felting workshop
Wool Felting Workshop
Reconnection: Connect to place, people and nature
Communities at Work invite you to join Julie Armstrong for a 2-hour hands-on wool felting workshop where creativity meets connection. Through the art of felting, we’ll deepen our bond with place by starting with a guided sensory awareness and mindfulness activity on the lawns near th Comms@Work Gungahlin. Drawing from this heightened connection, we'll head back inside to create a wool felt picture that reflects your personal experience of the environment. In this workshop you will be able to build on previous skills or learn skills if you are new to wool felting and connect with the surroundings and fellow makers through creative expression.
Julie Armstrong is a passionate educator, artist, and nature advocate with over 30 years of experience inspiring creativity both in the classroom and in the natural world. She combines her love of craft with environmental education, guiding others to deepen their connection with nature through hands-on creative expression. Through Canberra Forest Therapy, she fosters awareness and appreciation for the natural world, encouraging artistic exploration through felt making.
Julie has been sharing the joy of felting for many years, using wool, texture, and natural patterns to bring people closer to the landscapes that inspire them. Whether through tactile workshops or classroom teaching, she nurtures creativity, mindfulness, and a sense of place through the ancient art of felting.
Julie’s workshops, invite participants to explore the textures, colours, and energy of nature through the art of felting, weaving together personal creativity and a shared appreciation for the environment.
This workshop is fully funded through an ACT Health, Healthy Canberra grant.
